Furfural is an aldehyde that appears as colorless or reddish-brown mobile liquids with a penetrating odor. It is denser than water and soluble in water. Furfural is used to create derivatives that are used in many fields. Furfural is produced from a variety of renewable feedstocks which include oats, rice, corn cobs, cotton seed hulls and sugarcane bagasse.
