Spectrastat™ BHL
Spectrastat™ BHL is a complete system for self-preserving cosmetic and personal care products. It is especially useful in high water, cold-process applications: e.g. toners, surfactant systems, and wet wipes. It is completely liquid, homogeneous, and pumpable even at low temperatures. Spectrastat™ BHL is suitable for sensitive facial applications, where low irritation is required. Spectrastat™ BHL contains no biocides or typical preservatives. Instead it uses multifunctional agents that have excellent efficacy as biostatic and fungistatic agents. It is ideal for personal care products as an alternative to parabens, phenoxyethanol, MIT or other preservatives that may be undesirable. Spectrastat™ BHL is effective over a broad pH range from pH 4 - 8 with a typical use level of 2.0 - 3.0% (w/w). Spectrastat™ BHL is effective in typical personal care products such as creams, lotions, shower gels, and color cosmetics. It may be added to the water phase, at ambient or hot temperatures, or may be added post-emulsification of O/W emulsions.
