Syensqo for Metal Treatment
Univar Solutions is proud to carry the Addibond™ metal treatment line from Syensqo, a cutting-edge solution designed for the surface treatment of metals.

Inspired by the scientific councils that Ernest Solvay initiated in 1911, Syensqo works to push the limits of science and innovation to benefit its customers across the globe. The company's specialty ingredient solutions contribute to safer, cleaner, and more sustainable products in homes, food and consumer goods, planes, cars, batteries, smart devices, and healthcare applications.
Syensqo's innovations help enable the chemical and ingredient industry to deliver on the ambition of a circular economy and explore breakthrough technologies that advance humanity.

The Addibond™ metal treatment additives from Syensqo represents a leap forward in the field of surface treatment additive solutions. This innovative range of products is designed to meet the evolving needs of the OEMs, providing high-performance, safe, and sustainable operations throughout all stages of metal processing. The Addibond line includes a variety of polymers, each tailored for specific applications in improving adhesion between metal substrates and adhesives or polymeric coats.
What sets the Addibond line apart is its commitment to environmental responsibility. All products in the line are water-borne, heavy metal-free, and VOC-free, aligning with global regulatory standards such as EU REACH, U.S. TSCA, and others. This not only ensures a safer working environment but also helps companies meet stringent environmental regulations.
Applications of Addibond products span across various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and transportation. For instance, they are used in the treatment of aluminum substrates before joining with adhesives, enhancing the durability of the adhesive bond under conditions of high humidity, temperature, and mechanical stresses. This improvement in adhesion is crucial for applications requiring high resistance to corrosive elements and mechanical stress, such as automotive body sheets and parts for car bodies, fuel lines, power cables, and aluminum foil for batteries.
The Addibond line facilitates the shift from steel and ferrous substrates to aluminum, promoting lightweight construction, fuel efficiency, and increased recyclability. This not only contributes to longer service life and better performance of the end products but also supports the industry's move towards more sustainable materials and processes.

Univar Solutions is excited to showcase the Addibond metal treatment line from Syensqo, featuring three innovative products: Addibond™ 106, Addibond™ 800, and Addibond™ 829. Each product is designed to enhance the performance and durability of metal surfaces, catering to a wide range of industrial applications.
Product Information
Addibond™ 106 is a modified polyacrylate that excels in surface treatment for ferrous and non-ferrous substrates, including aluminum, magnesium, and their alloys, as well as mild and zinc-coated steel. It is particularly effective in improving bare corrosion, paint adhesion, and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for general industry, construction, and automotive parts. Addibond 106 can be applied via spray, immersion, barrel, or other processes, offering flexibility in application methods.
Formulation Benefits:
- Enhances paint adhesion
- Improves corrosion resistance
- Boosts performance of Cr-free formulations
Key Product Characteristics:
- APHA color: 125 Max
- Solids content: 40.0 – 42.0%
- Viscosity at 25°C: 500 – 3500 cp
Product Applications:
- Surface treatment for aluminum
- Magnesium & their alloys; mild steel; zinc coated steel
- Additive for water-based direct-to-metal coatings
Addibond™ 800, a vinyl phosphonic acid-acrylic acid copolymer, is tailored for the passivation of Zn-coated steel, enhancing bare corrosion resistance and heat resistance. It is also recommended for the conversion of cold-rolled steel prior to painting, improving wet paint adhesion and corrosion resistance. Addibond 800's compatibility with various acidic formulations and its low phosphorus level make it a versatile additive for trivalent chromium-based passivation technologies and hexafluoride-based conversion technologies.
Formulation Benefits:
- Low phosphorus level
- Improves bare corrosion and heat resistance
Key Product Characteristics:
