CAFLON CA-2EHA is a 2-Ethylhexanoic acid (2-EHA), commonly known as octanoic acid. A carboxylic acid that is widely used to prepare lipophilic metal derivatives that are soluble in nonpolar organic solvents. 2-EHA is used in the production of corrosion inhibitors for automotive coolants as well as a major raw material for polyolesters used in synthetic lubricants. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has reclassified 2-Ethylhexanoic acid (2-EHA) and most of its salts as Reprotoxic Category 1B. The global industry is adapting to this reclassification by using alternatives, which have a more advantageous classification and labelling profile, and are a safe-to-use replacement for 2-EHA.
