Coconut fatty acids are the fatty acids derived from the hydrolysis of coconut oil. They are used in various products, including food, textiles, cleaners, and metalworking. Univar offers a range of coconut fatty acids including whole and stripped versions as well as low and high IV fatty acids.
Light-cut fatty acids are the C8 and C10 fractions of fractionated fatty acids. These include capric acid, caprylic acid, or a blend of the two. Light-cut fatty acids are used in dairy cleaners, flavor & fragrances, industrial and institutional cleaners, metalworking lubricants, detergents, emollient esters, food supplements, alkyd resins, soaps, personal care, agricultural chemicals, textile chemical, and fatty derivatives.
Oleic acids is a C18 monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid (18:1 cis-9) derived from tallow and vegetable feedstocks. They are used in dimer acids, metalworking lubricants, metallic stabilizers, textile chemicals, personal care products, emulsifiers for the rubber and plastics industries, oilfield chemicals, flavor and fragrance, and fatty derivatives.
Univar Solutions offers a broad range of oleic acids: food grade, USP/NF, kosher, and halal certified. We also have high-purity and low-polyunsaturated oleic acids available.
Stearic acids are C18 saturated fatty acids produced from the hydrolysis of fats, such as beef tallow fat, or natural vegetable oils such as palm stearine, palm kernel, or soybean. They are used both in raw form and chemical intermediate across many industries. Examples are an emulsifier thickener and surfactant in various creams, a hardener in candles, and a viscosity modifier in oil.
Univar Solutions' portfolio includes most of the versions of C18 saturated fatty acid that are available in the oleochemical marketplace. We offer versions of stearic acids that can be USP/NF, food grade, kosher and halal certified.
Univar Solutions offers an assortment of other types of fatty acids including mid-cut, long-chain, and dimerized acids.
