Functional Blends
- Emulsifiers
- Starch complexing – monoglycerides and lactylates can help form water-insoluble complexes to delay the recrystallization of starch and prevent staling in bakery products.
- Protein interaction – Emulsifiers such as lactylates can interact with the protein in yeast-raised baked goods, reinforcing gluten structure, and improving gas retention. For sauces and non-dairy creamers, they also help improve mouthfeel and increase stability.

Lactic Acid, Lactates, and Derivatives

- Corbion domestically manufactures lactic acid through the fermentation of sugar. As a food and beverage ingredient, lactic acid and its derivatives are used far beyond the dairy segment, serving as an effective and reliable preservative, acidifier, taste enhancer, and flavor provider.

ESTERLAC Emulsifiers and Surfactants
ESTERLAC is a range of natural emulsifiers and surfactants which are mild, multi-functional, and safe. They bring many unique features in o/w and w/o emulsions as well as rinse-off applications.
Skin care
ESTERLAC™ emulsifers are very substantive to proteins and starches. They improve the moisturization and skin conditioning properties of formulations. Moisturizing ingredients can penetrate into the skin more easily in the presence of ESTERLAC™ emulsifiers. On the skin, these ingredients provide a light, silky, soft feel, both in leave-on and rinse-off formulations. Furthermore, the ESTERLAC™ emulsifiers have a very low skin irritation: they are dermatologically innocuous and non-irritating to eyes.
Rinse-off
In bar soaps, shampoos, and body washes, ESTERLAC™ SLL acts like a foam booster and mild surfactant, delivering significantly improved foam volume and richness vs. formulations without ESTERLAC™.
Hair care
Substantive to proteins, ESTERLAC™ provides excellent hair conditioning effects. This is especially observed for ESTERLAC™ CARE+. This ingredient adsorbs to damaged hair and helps to retain moisture in skin and hair. When applied in hair care products like shampoos and conditioners, the user will experience smooth and soft hair. ESTERLAC™ emulsifiers can also be used to thicken shampoos as a Cocamide MEA replacement.

PURASAL® NH/COS
PURASAL® NH/COS is the ammonium salt of natural L(+)-Lactic acid, which is produced by fermentation from carbohydrates. PURASAL® NH/COS has clinically been shown to be an excellent moisturizer for very dry skin. It helps reduce skin roughness and visibly reduces skin dryness and an ashy appearance of the skin, making the skin feel smooth and look healthy and radiant again.
It is especially recommended for very dry skin and dry and rough spots such as elbows and knees. It is also suitable for dry, cracked heels.
PURASAL® MOISTXS
PURASAL® MOISTXS is a natural biobased carbohydrate fermentation product, clinically demonstrated to provide enhanced and extended (up to 24 hrs) moisturization in leave-on formulations. When added to surfactant formulations, PURASAL® MOISTXS has been shown to increase the mildness of such formulations in a cost-effective way, allowing to reduce the level of secondary surfactant.
