Dow Silicone Gum Blends
DOW silicone gum blends are unique blends of high molecular weight siloxane polymers (silicone gums) combined with various carrier fluids to form high-performance conditioning materials.
Dow's diverse family of DOW Silicone Gum Blends enable formulations that enhance shine, increase smoothness, improve wet and dry combing ease, control frizz, and protect hair from heat damage when formulated into leave-in hair oils, serums, creams and other products.
The newest product offerings of these silicone gum blends feature dimethiconol gum combined with four different carrier fluid options - isoparaffins, isododecane, dimethicone, and bioderived alkanes. This variety provides formulators greater versatility to achieve various volatility profiles, sensory properties and performance benefits. Some of the carrier options are bioderived and readily biodegradable. The blends allow formulating both leave-on and rinse-off products compliant with global regulations including Europe and China.
Compared to untreated hair, Dow's new silicone gum blends have demonstrated significantly improved conditioning effects like increased shine and ultra-smooth feel (up to a 90% reduction in combing forces) as well as superior heat protection (up to 58% less hair breakage after heat exposure). Their benefits have been proven through testing on hair tresses.

Low Cyclic Siloxane DOWSIL™ Gum Blend Products
Low cyclic siloxanes options refer to Dow products which keep cyclotetrasiloxane (D4), cyclopentasiloxane (D5), and/or cyclohexasiloxane (D6) levels below 0.1 weight percent in the sourced raw material. These are offered to provide assurance to customers concerned with the European Union REACH restriction limiting the amounts of these compounds in wash-off and leave-on applications to <0.1% in the final end consumer product.
