Amphoteric surfactants can be used in a broad range of applications because they are compatible with anionic, cationic, and nonionic surfactants. They are also compatible with many electrolytes, thickeners, and solvents.
Amphoteric surfactants are mild, with low irritation to both skin and eyes. They can mitigate the irritation potential of other surfactants too, especially anionics.
Amphoteric surfactants are versatile – they can be selected to provide either high or low foam and to either thicken or reduce viscosity. They can also be chosen to provide hydrotroping, detergency or conditioning, along with biodegradability, corrosion inhibition, pH stability, and lower film & streak potential.
