Borogard® ZB and Firebrake® ZB are specialized zinc borate products offering protection and enhancement for wood composites and polymers.
Borogard® ZB has been a leading wood preservative for over 15 years, safeguarding wood-plastic compounds against rot, decay, and UV damage, thanks to its biostatic properties and safety. Available in various sizes, it's ideal for decay-resistant and termite-resistant applications.
Firebrake® ZB, known for its fire retardancy, withstands high processing temperatures up to 290°C, making it suitable for extruders and injection molding. It acts as a flame retardant, char promoter, and smoke suppressant, available in multiple grades for diverse applications. Both products are stable, odorless powders that integrate seamlessly into composites, offering long-lasting protection and performance enhancements.

Borate preservative for wood composites and flame retardant protection for polymners
For more than 15 years, Borogard® ZB has successfully protected wood-plastic compounds (WPCs) against rot and decay, inhibited mold, and enhanced UV light stabilization. Its biostatic properties, low cost, and excellent safety attributes make Borogard® ZB the leading preservative treatment available.

Firebrake® ZB is a unique zinc borate that combines the best of zinc and boron oxides with water release. Use it to develop fire-retardant formulations processable up to 290°C. Firebrake® ZB can be fed to extruders, calenders, or injection molding equipment, much like other solid polymer additives.

- Firebrake® ZB releases its water of hydration at temperatures exceeding 554°F (290°C), so it can be used in systems that require high processing temperatures
- Refractive index similar to that of most polymer systems, so it retains considerable translucency and enables the use of low pigment loading

- Depending on the base polymer used and the fire protection standards that need to be met, Firebrake® ZB can partially or completely replace other fire-retardant additives such as antimony oxide
