3-Amino 1-Propanol is a clear, colorless to yellow liquid at room temperature with an amine-like odor finding uses as a pH modifier, co-reactant, dispersing aide and emulsion film forming aide. It is miscible with water, alcohol, ether, acetone and chloroform. It is hygroscopic and incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.

Dimethylisopropanolamine is a clear, colorless to yellow liquid at room temperature with amine-like odor and is miscible in water. Due to have a tertiary amine and alcohol functionality it finds benefit in a wide range of applications including pH modification, co-reactant, dispersing agent and wetting aide.

Triphenyphosphine is a white to slight yellow solid pellet with a faint odor. It is a tertiary phosphine and serves as a reducing agent and neutral ligand, where it is widely used in the production of organic and organometallic compounds. Triphenylphosphine is soluble in non-polar solvents such as aromatics and diethyl ethers.

BASF's new product 2-Octyl Acrylate (2-OA) forms an essential addition to their Acrylic and Methacrylic Ester portfolio.
Enabling that positive development is BASF's 2-Octyl Acrylate. This specialty monomer will not only improve the performance of your emulsion polymerization products, but also deliver 73 percent bio-based content.
C14 bio-based monomer
The alcohol used for manufacturing 2-Octyl Acrylate is based on Castor Oil, and as a result, 2-Octyl Acrylate exhibits a C14 bio-based content of 73%. BASF is a founding member of Project Pragati, the world's first sustainable castor bean program, improving working conditions, creating awareness for sustainable farming, and increasing yields due to more efficient farming practices.

- Easy use in emulsion and solvent borne polymerization
- Straightforward alternative to purely fossil based monomers like 2-EHA and BA

Balanced Solvency
Compared to other C14 bio-based monomers, 2-Octyl Acrylate is well-balanced in hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity. And with that, 2-Octyl Acrylate is well hydrophobic to improve the water resistance and durability of coatings and adhesives applications. On the other hand, the solubility of 2-Octyl Acrylate allows easy use in traditional emulsion polymerizations without requiring sophisticated adjustment, making it a perfect alternative to classic fossil-based standard monomers such as 2-Ethylhexyl Acrylate and n-Butyl Acrylate.
Performance
Due to balanced steric hindrance, 2-Octyl Acrylate exhibits excellent hydrolytic stability compared to many classic fossil-based standard monomers. The monomer has been shown to provide excellent weatherability and helps to improve scrub resistance. Therefore, 2-Octyl Acrylate is one of the few C14 bio-based monomers which can be used in both standard and high-performance applications.
Low VOC
It is our vision to provide acrylic monomers to satisfy future needs. Therefore, BASF's 2-Octyl Acrylate manufacturing process affords the monomer high purity with the lowest residual alcohol and other VOC contributing impurities. Reliably high quality for a broad application spectrum.
